William T. and Irma Day
William “Billy” T. Day was a graduate of Picadome High School in Lexington, Kentucky. Billy attended WKU from 1938, through 1942, majoring in physical education and minoring in English and biology. During his time on the Hill, he was forward for the basketball team and pitcher for the baseball team. He lettered in basketball under Coach E.A. Diddle.
Irma Day was born July 1, 1926. Irma attended WKU a few years after her husband, in 1944 and 1945. Since her time as a student, Irma has been a generous supporter of the university. She and Billy have three daughters.
To further support the university, Billy and Irma established the William T. and irma Day Scholarship Fund in 1993. The fund assists deserving WKU students in pursuing their academic goals. Through this fund, Billy and Irma’s legacy on the Hill lives on in perpetuity.
