Willa Dean Tudor Noffsinger

Willa Dean Tudor Noffsinger was born on May 31, 1924, to William Daniel and Susan Ollie Watkins Tudor. A Muhlenberg County, Kentucky, native, Willa graduated from Bremen High School. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree from WKU in 1952.

She then pursued a career in education. She taught at Bremen Elementary and Central City Elementary for 34 years until eventually retiring. Of all the grades she taught, second grade was her favorite.

Willa Dean was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, where she worked in many church activities including teaching. She had many hobbies and enjoyed art, especially painting with oils on canvas, and ancestry research. After retirement, she served as a volunteer tutor in the “Skills for Life” adult literacy program.

She was married to Lehman Hughes Noffsinger. Lehman was a veteran of WWII where he served in the US Army. Willa and Lehman married on June 2, 1956. They were married until his passing on October 10, 1976, and hers on October 1, 2019.

To honor her belief in the importance of obtaining a higher education, Mrs. Noffsinger established the Willa Dean Tudor Noffsinger Scholarship Fund through her estate plans in 2020. The fund assists deserving WKU students from Muhlenberg County pursuing their degrees in elementary education. Through this fund, Willa Dean’s legacy lives on in perpetuity.
