Thomas Alan Yungbluth
Dr. Thomas Alan Yungbluth was born December 12, 1934. He graduated from the University of Illinois with a Bachelor of Science in 1956 and again in 1966 with a PhD from the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities. Upon earning his PhD, Dr. Yungbluth began his career at WKU and was a valued member of the WKU Biology Department faculty until his retirement in 2000. He also served as the Pre-Medical student advisor during his time at WKU. At WKU he was an advisor for Alpha Phi Omega, service fraternity, and past president of Phi Kappa Phi, honors society.
While at WKU, Dr. Yungbluth made many contributions to the lives of students and colleagues. He was instrumental in the educating and shaping of young adults. One of the finest examples of his incredible impact in the WKU community is this scholarship fund that he established in 2013. Through this fund, deserving biology students are offered the opportunity for a study abroad experience to enhance their overall education. Thanks to his generosity, Dr. Yungbluth continues to change the lives of students and carry on a legacy of Hilltopper pride.
