Stephanie Woodward
Stephanie Dee Woodward was born in Somerset, Kentucky December 22nd, 1970. Stephanie grew up in Lancaster, Kentucky and attended Garrard County High School. Stephanie had an incredibly strong academic career, attending VAMPY here at WKU several times, and was known to all as a kind, courteous, and intelligent individual. Unfortunately, her life was tragically cut short at 16 when she passed away from injuries suffered in an automobile accident.
Upon Stephanie’s passing, the Stephanie D. Woodward Scholarship Fund was created using a scholarship from the Kentucky Association for Gifted Education Foundation that had originally been given to Stephanie. This scholarship, along with the donations and leadership of Stephanie’s family, friends, and particularly Dr. Julia Roberts, Director of the Gifted Studies Program at WKU, established this fund to honor her memory. Through this fund, other worthy students are able to attend VAMPY, as Stephanie did, and the wonderful legacy of this brilliant young woman lives on.
