Patricia Watkins Beasley
Patricia Maxine Watkins Beasley was born on June 1, 1955, in Louisville, KY. Mrs. Beasley was the daughter of Clayton and Maxine Powell Watkins, and she was a resident of Grayson County, Kentucky. With two small children at home, she returned to school to earn her degree in nursing.
Mrs. Beasley was the administrative assistant for Watkins Construction and a member of the Claggett United Baptist Church. She was a person of passion, character, and was a friend to all who knew her. Patricia was married to Mr. John Beasley of Leitchfield, Kentucky and had two children.
Mrs. Beasley passed away June 28, 2009, at the age of 54, after a battle with breast cancer. Mr. Garry Watkins, the brother of Mrs. Beasley, established this scholarship fund to honor the memory of his sister and to reflect her belief in the importance of education. Awards are given to assist deserving students who show the spirit of WKU both in and out of the classroom. First preference goes to students majoring in healthcare who are participating in the Scholar House program.
Mr. Garry Dale Watkins was born June 22, 1952. Garry is a 1971 graduate of Caneyville High School and a 1975 graduate of Western Kentucky University, with a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Accounting.
