Nathan P. Jordon

Nathan Phillip Jordon, Scholarship honors the life and legacy of Nathan “ Nate” Phillip Jordon affectionately known as Nate, a beloved Louisville native and graduate of Southern High School. Nate earned his degree from Western Kentucky University and was a proud member of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc.

Nate made Bowling Green his home for more than 20 years, where he became widely respected for his generosity, humility, and commitment to serving others. He dedicated countless hours to supporting individuals with special needs, the homeless, and young people until his unexpected passing in 2006 at the age of 43.

Throughout his life, Nate volunteered with numerous organizations, including the Special Olympics, Bowl for kids’ Sake, Habitat for humanity, and Nate provided resources for families in need. He frequently delivered meals to senior citizens during the holidays and collected food for local food banks. While he made many meaningful contributions to WKU and the community, he was perhaps best remembered for his welcoming Sunday dinners.

Professionally, Nate served for approximately 10 years as Center Manager for the WKU Campus Childcare Center at the Bowling Green Housing Authority. He later worked as a Coordinator for the Governor’s Minority Student College Preparation Program- Project A.I.M.S. (Activating Interest in Minority Students). A grant funded initiative aimed at increasing higher education participation among Kentucky’s minority students. In this role, he mentored middle and junior high school students for more than 15 years leaving a lasting impact on countless young lives.

Nate is survived by his mother, LoAnn Jordon; father, Jesse Hughes; and sister, Marcella Floyd, along with many family and friends. To honor his enduring spirit of service and compassion. His close friends Jackie Lasley Pillow, Venton Curry, along with fraternity brothers, Tony Wilson and Tony Copeland, established this scholarship to ensure that his legacy continues to uplift future generations.

The Nathan Phillip Jordon Scholarship serves as a testament to Nate’s belief in community, education, and helping others reach their full potential.
