Michael D. Steenbergen
Mr. Michael D. Steenbergen was born August 7th, 1951, to Dewey Steenbergen, Jr. and Virginia Campbell Steenbergen in Fort Bragg, North Carolina. He was raised and lived his entire life in Glasgow, Kentucky, however. He was a graduate of Austin Tracy High School and a lifetime supporter of Barren County Schools. While attending Western Kentucky University, he became passionate about WKU and an avid WKU sports fan and member of the Hilltopper Athletic Foundation. He was married to WKU alum Frances Kidd Steenbergen and together they had a daughter, Kelley, who is also a graduate of WKU. He also has two grandchildren, Campbell and Elaine.
He worked for Houchens Industry and was manager of Houchens Grocery #38.
The beloved Mr. Steenbergen passed away November 25th, 2003. To honor his memory, his family and friends created the Michael D. Steenbergen Scholarship Fund. Through this fund, Mr. Steenbergen’s loyalty to and love of Western Kentucky University lives on forever.
