Marvin W. Russell

Dr. Marvin W. Russell was born August 26, 1927. He graduated from Western Kentucky University with a Bachelor of Science in 1950. While attending WKU, Dr. Russell was an active Hilltopper: participating in both band and choir. Upon graduating, he continued his education at the University of Florida where he earned a Masters and Doctorate of Philosophy. Dr. Russell then returned to WKU to continue his legacy on the Hill, working as a beloved, well-respected Physics professor and Dean of the Ogden College of Science and Technology from 2001-2004.

As a tribute to Dr. Russell and all his contributions at WKU, The Dr. Marvin W. Russell Scholarship Fund was established in October of 1995. Through this fund, Dr. Russell’s legacy lives on as deserving WKU Physics majors are provided support and encouragement.
