Loyce Chamness
Loyce Spencer Chamness was born on June 20, 1900. Loyce was an Allen County, Kentucky, native but came to Bowling Green, Kentucky, to attend WKU. She remained a Bowling Green resident for the rest of her life. After graduating, she devoted the next 35 years of her life to education as a public school teacher. She was active in her community as a member of First Baptist Church. She passed away in February of 1983.
To further give back to the university, Loyce established the Loyce Chamness Fund in Nursing through a will bequest in June of 1984. The fund assists deserving WKU students who are majoring in nursing. Through this fund, Loyce’s legacy on the Hill lives on in perpetuity.
