Louis Berman

Louis Berman was born on December 29, 1953. Louis is a 1975 graduate of WKU, majoring in mass communications and business administration. While a student, he was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity and Student Government Association. After graduating, he began a long career in insurance. He worked for Aetna Services, Inc. before shifting to Van Meter Insurance, where he remained for 18 years and became president in 1998. He then began working for Assured Neace Lukens in 1999 and was promoted to regional vice president of AssuredPartners Inc. in 2014. He is married to his wife Mary Elizabeth “Maribeth” Berman, who formerly worked at WKU in Human Health Resources Benefits. He has two children, Mitchell and Lizabeth, who also attended WKU.

Since his time on the Hill, Louis has remained an active alumnus. He served on the WKU Board of Advisors, New Century of Spirit Campaign Cabinet, and the Clinical Education Complex Charter Committee. He also served on the Hilltopper Athletic Foundation Board, where he was president in 1999, the National Leadership Committee, and the Investing in the Spirit Campaign Cabinet. He also received the Volunteers of the Year Summit Award in 2009.

To further give back to the university, he established the Berman Endowed Basketball Scholarship Fund in 1998. As an avid supporter of the WKU men’s basketball program, he created the fund to assist
deserving Hilltopper point guards. Through this fund, Louis’ legacy on the Hill continues in perpetuity.
