Levi and Bertha Alexander
Levi James Alexander was born May 17, 1903 and was married to Bertha E. Fairchild Alexander, who was born June 11, 1903. Levi and Bertha were married until Bertha’s passing in 1969. Levi passed away a few years later in 1973. The couple had one son, Dr. James Estill Alexander, born January 26, 1931. James was a two time graduate of WKU, receiving a Bachelor of Science in 1952 and a Master of Arts in Education in 1953. He was a Professor Emeritus at the University of Tennessee from 1999 until his passing in 2001. He was inducted into the Warren County School District Hall of Fame in 2005.
Upon his passing, James established the Levi and Bertha Alexander Memorial Scholarship Fund through a will bequest. The fund honors James’ beloved parents and assists deserving residents of Wayne County and graduates from the local high school pursuing their degrees at WKU. Through this fund, the Alexander family’s legacy carries on in perpetuity.
