Kristen and Phillip Bale

This fund was established by Kristen and Phillip Bale to benefit deserving students from Barren County who are attending Western Kentucky University. Dr. and Mrs. Bale are very involved in the Barren County community and are active volunteers at WKU. They both have served on the WKU Board of Regents, and this scholarship exemplifies Dr. and Mrs. Bale’s devotion to WKU and their belief in the importance of education.

Dr. Phillip W. Bale was born April 10, 1950. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree from University of Wisconsin-Madison, then earned a Doctor of Medicine degree from University of Kentucky College of Medicine. He also earned a degree of Fellow from the American Academy of Family Physicians.

As a Family Practitioner, Dr. Bale founded Glasgow Primary Care in 1979 and now practices at Graves Gilbert Clinic in Glasgow, Kentucky. He has also been a board member of South Central Cultural Center of Kentucky, First Christian Church, Foundation for a Healthy Kentucky, and Glasgow Independent Board of Education. Phillip is past Chairman of the Kentucky Museum Board of Directors, and was appointed to the WKU Board of Regents in 2013. Dr. Bale is also the founder of the University of Louisville Glasgow Family Medicine Residency Program, and is an Assistant Clinical Professor for the program.
