Joe and Pat Glasser

Joe and Pat Glasser

Joe Glasser attended University High School (“College High”) and WKU. At WKU, Joe played on the varsity tennis team, pledged Sigma Nu, worked in student government, and captained the business team. It was on the business team that he met his future wife, Patricia “Pat” Newton.

After both graduating WKU in 1973, Joe and Pat married in 1974. After five years together in New Orleans, they moved to Louisville, KY, to be closer to their families and to start one of their own. There the couple had and raised three children.

In 1978, Joe began work in the finance departments at BATUS / Brown & Williamson, where he stayed for 26 years before retiring in 2004 as the company’s Assistant Treasurer. He was a member of the Audubon Country Club and St. Agnes Parish, as well as a CPA and CFA.

Pat also has a storied career. After completing graduate school at WKU, she went on to serve as Vice President of Citizen’s Fidelity Bank, Vice President of D&C Bank, and a Corporate Lending Officer at PNC Bank.

The Glassers have a long history with WKU. Not only are Joe and Pat WKU alumni, but Joe’s brother, Dr. Jack Glasser (‘73) and Joe’s parents, Frank and Jane Glasser (BU ‘43) are as well. To honor that history, Joe and Pat established the Joe and Pat Glasser Scholarship Fund. The purpose of this fund is to benefit deserving WKU students who are pursuing a degree within the Gordon Ford College of Business. Since his passing in 2011, the fund also serves to perpetuate Joe’s legacy.
