George Ann and Morris Lowe

In 1947 Morris Lowe and George Anne Holland were freshman at Western Kentucky State Normal School. A Halloween mixer for all students was hosted by Potter Hall, the women’s residence. All students were matched with two halves of a heart; for Morris, his half read Procter and printed on the half for George Anne was the word Gamble. The matched heart printed with Proctor and Gamble, began a courtship and marriage that led to a wonderful life. A life that included successful careers for both, four children, lots of travel, and a long association with the beautiful campus they both love.

Morris is a graduate of Bowling Green High School. Western Kentucky State College, and Vanderbilt Law School. Morris was the Warren County Commonwealth Attorney for 33 years. For over five decades Morris was a generous mentor and respected attorney in the Bowling Green community. A member of First Baptist Church; he served in many leadership positions for several Bowling Green organizations. Morris was a proud member of the US Army, serving in the European Theater during WWII. Morris died in February of 2017 and George Ann in November of 2021.They are both greatly missed by all who knew them.

George Anne is a native of Muhlenberg County Kentucky. After earning her teaching degree she taught in both Warren County and Bowling Green City Schools. George Anne later taught in the English Department at Western. A tireless volunteer, among her many efforts George Anne served as President of the Bowling Green Woman’s Club and Alpha Delta Kappa Teachers Sorority. Devoted to her children and community, George Anne has always served as an outstanding role model to all who know her.
Morris and George Anne are longtime supporters of WKU athletics; for many years the Lowe’s hosted the 100 Club hospitality room during halftime for home basketball games.
The Lowe Family is proud to support this scholarship opportunity. This scholarship is to be awarded to a Bowling Green High graduate with senior standing; who plans to study law upon graduation from WKU.
