G. Euen Compton

The G. Euen Compton Scholarship Endowment is made possible through a perpetual trust established by G. Euen Compton, a loyal alumnus of Western Kentucky University. He was a successful school teacher in Trigg County and came to value education in the highest regard. As a result, he set up a scholarship fund which would benefit deserving and needy students at Western Kentucky University who are from the Commonwealth of Kentucky. The establishment of this fund further demonstrates Mr. Compton’s belief in the importance of education.

Mr. George Euen Compton was born January 20, 1911 to George and Sarah Rushing Compton. Mr. Compton was one of three graduates from Golden Pond High School Class of 1929. He attended Western Kentucky University and received a Bachelor of Science degree in 1934. As a student, Mr.Compton was a proud member of the Track team and lettered in the sport.

Mr. Compton utilized his hard-earned degree after leaving WKU. In addition to serving as a school teacher in Trigg County, he was also the President of Ashton Corporation and served 39 years as a machinist.

Mr. Euen Compton was a member of the Cadiz United Methodist Church and the Cadiz Masonic Lodge No. 121. He was a 57 year Mason. Mr. Compton passed away at his home on July 27, 2002.
