Floyd H. Ellis

Warren Rural Electric Cooperative Corporation (WRECC) is a non-profit electric cooperative that was formed in 1938 to bring electricity to individuals and communities in rural areas of South Central Kentucky. Floyd H. Ellis spent 20 years as president and CEO of Warren Rural Electric Cooperative. A former chairman of the Warren County Democratic Party, he was a state senator in the 1960s and a Warren County property valuation administrator in the 1970s. He was also a retired chairman of the board of Citizens First Bank, and he volunteered as a counselor for the Service Corps of Retired Executives (SCORE), a volunteer group sponsored by the BG Area Chamber of Commerce.

Mr. Ellis loved the community of Bowling Green, as well as South Central Kentucky as a whole, and as a result, did everything in his power to improve the quality of life in those areas. Floyd Ellis had three children and was married to Mrs. Sarah Ann Ellis. Mr. Ellis passed away on November 21, 2009, and following his passing, a scholarship was created in his honor and later combined with the WRECC Scholarship Fund. Together, this fund bearing Mr. Ellis’s name honors his legacy of good citizenship as well as the important work WRECC does.
