Flora Lanham Ford

Flora Lanham Ford was born July 25, 1909 to Ethel May Thurman and William Henry Lanham in Crittenden, Kentucky. Flora was married to William Ford until his passing in 1938 and then to James Berry. She was a loving mother to Norman Henry Ford, Bobby Joe Ford, Margret Gene Ford, and Colonel William Bedford Ford, III, who graduated from WKU in 1952. She was also a grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great grandmother to their children. She was a member of Dawson Springs Primitive Baptist Church in Dawson Springs, Kentucky. Flora was known as a generous, Christian woman, who raised her children well and always put others above herself. She passed away at the age of 89 on May 22, 1999.

To honor her memory, her sons established the Flora Lanham Ford Berry Scholarship Fund. The fund assists WKU students who are graduates of Dawson Springs High School or are descendents of Flora. Through this fund, her memory lives on in perpetuity.
