Elizabeth and Dillard Duncan
Mrs. Elizabeth (Jenkins) Duncan was a graduate of WKU who went on to have a storied teaching career. She taught elementary school for 44 years in Logan County from 1925 to 1969, including teaching positions in several one-room locations. Mr. Dillard Duncan was a lifelong farmer and was also recognized as an innovator and active community member. He sang in the church choir and served as a Masonic Lodge leader. Elizabeth and Dillard married in 1931 and lived with their two children near Auburn in Logan County, Kentucky. Both Elizabeth and Dillard stressed the importance of a good education and supported educational pursuits among all their family, friends, and students.
To honor the memory of Elizabeth J. and Dillard D. Duncan, their son and daughter-in-law, Dr. George and Mrs. Ruth Duncan, established this scholarship fund. This award continues their legacy as champions of education by helping deserving students in perpetuity.
