Dr. Shelby Rader
Dr. Shelby Rader grew up in Irvine, Kentucky. Shelby came to the Hill as a member of the Gatton Academy of Mathematics and Science. She earned a Bachelor of Science in both geology and chemistry from WKU. She also received a Ph.D. in geosciences from the University of Arizona. She now serves as an assistant professor in Earth and Atmospheric Sciences at Indiana University Bloomington.
To further give back to the university, Shelby established the Dr. Shelby Rader Scholarship Fund in 2021. The fund assists deserving full-time undergraduate students at WKU who are majoring in geological sciences. First preference is given to female students. Through this fund, Shelby’s legacy lives on in perpetuity.
