Dr. Elsie Dotson was born in 1923, to Clifford and Ada M. Dickerson Dotson. Elsie began her long legacy at WKU as a student where she earned both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees. After graduating, she became a clinical psychologist as well as a professor at the university. She was involved in numerous university committees and did extensive research in the field until her retirement in 1986.

In addition to her tenure at WKU, Elsie taught at East Carolina University and the University of Texas. She was a member of the American Psychological Association, Kentucky Psychological Association, and American Personnel and Guidance Association. She volunteered for the Hospice of Bowling Green and other community service organizations. She was also a member of Eastwood Baptist Church and Chapter D of PEO sisterhood.
