David D. Crowe

David D. Crowe was born on February 22, 1944, to Gwen Hart Crowe and Sarah Oldham Crowe. A native of Hopkins County, Kentucky, David graduated from Madisonville High School. He then attended WKU, where he earned Bachelor’s, Master’s and Rank I degrees in mathematics, history, and school administration.

David had a long career as a mathematics teacher at Alvaton and Warren Central High schools and principal at Warren Central High School. During his tenure at Warren Central High School, he graduated more than 10,000 students. He retired in 1997.

David was also active in his community. He was a member of the Warren County Principals Association and served as chairman 1975-76 and 1983-84. He was a member of the Fourth Region Kentucky Association of School Administrators, National Association of Secondary School Principals, Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development, and the Kentucky Retired Teachers Association. He was commissioned Kentucky Colonel by Governor Julian Carroll in 1976 and 1978 and by Governor Wallace Wilkinson in 1989.

David was married to Myrna Joan Larkins Crowe. They had one child, Sarah Ashley Crowe. He and Myrna Joan were married for 44 years until his passing on October 20, 2011.

To honor his memory, family and friends established the David D. Crowe Scholarship Fund. The fund assists WKU students who are graduates of Warren Central High School and have a GPA of at least 3.0. Through this fund, David’s legacy lives on in perpetuity.
