Dale Augenstein
Michael Dale Augenstein was born October 11, 1958. Originally from Owensboro, Dale has been a dedicated Topper since his first days on the Hill. In addition to working on campus, he was a WKU Yell Leader, cheering on the football and basketball teams. He also was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity, where he held several leadership positions. Dale earned his Bachelor of Science degree in business administration from WKU in 1981.
Since graduation, Dale became a successful businessman and entrepreneur in the Southeast. He began his career as Vice President of the Lexington, Kentucky Chamber of Commerce. He then moved to Hilton Head, South Carolina to serve as President of its Chamber of Commerce. He owns several businesses, including Steamer Seafood Company in Hilton Head, established 1991, and Bowling Green, Kentucky, established 2016.
Dale is also an active and generous alumnus of WKU, continually serving as a volunteer and donor. He is a member of WKU’s Board of Advisors, the Alumni Association, and Alumni Association Board of Directors (President 2011-12). In 2012, he was recognized with the Distinguished Service Medal, the highest honor bestowed upon any WKU volunteer. He also received the WKU Philanthropist of the Year Award in 2013. The university’s alumni center, opened in 2013, bears his name as testament to his great legacy as a Hilltopper.
To further give back to WKU, he established the Dale Augenstein Leadership Scholarship Fund. The fund serves to assist deserving members of Sigma Alpha Epsilon. Through this fund, Dale continues to make a positive impact on the Hill and beyond.
