Clyde B. Cates

Clyde B. Cates

Clyde B. Cates first came to WKU as a student, where she was a member of Alpha Omicron Pi sorority. She taught at the Bowling Green College of Commerce before it merged with Western in 1963 and after that became a professor at WKU and taught business administration and economics until her retirement in 1965. She passed away in March of 1984.

To further give back to the university, Clyde established the Clyde B. Cates Scholarship Fund in honor of her father, J.E. Boulton who was one of the early graduates of the early Southern Normal school as well as honor and recognize her service to the Bowling Green Business University, through a will bequest. The fund assists deserving WKU students who are majoring in a business-related field within the Gordon Ford College of Business. Through this fund, Clyde’s legacy on the Hill lives on in perpetuity.
