Biology Scholarship Fund

Biology Scholarship Fund

The Biology Department is a longstanding fixture at WKU. The focus of the department is to create a dynamic, experiential learning environment that makes it a destination department for competitive undergraduate and graduate students, involving them in the process of science and preparing them for success in a global society. The departmental goals are firmly rooted in teaching excellence with the integration of experiential learning through laboratory and field based research in curricula. Furthermore, teaching and research within the department extend from campus laboratories, to local field sites, including the 1,300 acre Upper Green River Biological Preserve, all the way to the Caribbean, China, and Africa. From studies on microbes to megafauna, and genes to ecosystems, undergraduate and graduate students play an active role in the advancement of knowledge taking place in the Department of Biology at WKU.

To further that mission, faculty members within the department established the Biology Scholarship Fund in April of 1972. The fund assists deserving upperclassmen who are majoring in a biology-related field. Through this fund, the Biology Department continues to make a positive impact on the Hill and beyond.
