Bowling Green Kiwanis Club

Bowling Green Kiwanis Club

Founded in 1915, Kiwanis International is a global organization of clubs and members dedicated to serving the children of the world and developing youth leaders. In the early years, members focused on business networking. In 1916, Kiwanis became an international organization with the creation of the Kiwanis Club of Hamilton, Ontario. In 1919, the organization changed its focus to service. By 1962, worldwide expansion was approved. In1987, women officially were allowed into the membership.

Kiwanis and its family of clubs, including Circle K International for university students, Key Club for student age 14-18, Builders Club for student ages 11-14, Kiwanis Kids for students age 6-12, and Aktion Club for adults living with disabilities, annually dedicate more that 18 million service hours to strengthen communities and serve children. The Kiwanis International family comprises nearly 600,000 adult and youth members in 80 countries and geographic areas.

The Bowling Green Kiwanis Club focuses on community oriented fundraisers like the BB&T All American Soap Box Derby and Thunderfest. All funds raised by the club support local agencies and projects that improve the lives of children in Bowling Green and Warren County.

To further give back to the community, the Bowling Green Kiwanis club established the Bowling Green Kiwanis Club Scholarship Fund in June, 1971. The fund honors the memory of W.B. Kerr and Claude E. Rose. The fund assists graduates of one of the five public high schools in Warren County. Through this fund, students are helped in perpetuity.
