Betty Stewart Dennis
Betty Stewart Dennis was born in Holly Springs, North Carolina, in 1942. She attended WKU, where she majored in biology and minored in psychology. After graduating from WKU in 1963, she began teaching high school biology in Fort Knox, Kentucky, and then in Beaufort, South Carolina.
In South Carolina, Betty met and married her husband, C.W. Dennis. They worked at the University of Florida and were stationed at Fort Monroe, Virginia, and the Pentagon. They also had four children: Britt, Ryan, Todd, and Andrea. The couple retired to Betty’s hometown, Holly Springs, where Betty was a member of the Devil’s Ridge Women’s Golf League.
To honor her legacy, friends and family established the Betty Stewart Dennis Women’s Golf Scholarship Fund. The fund assists deserving WKU students who are members of the WKU Women’s Golf team. Through this fund, Betty’s memory lives on in perpetuity.
