Arthur Andersen & Company

Arthur Andersen & Company

Arthur Andersen & Company, originally Andersen, DeLaney, & Co., was co-founded in 1913 by Arthur E. Andersen. Arthur was a young accounting professor who was well known for his integrity. Originally out of Chicago, Illinois, Arthur Andersen & Company became one of the “Big Five” accounting firms in the world—with, at its peak, over 85,000 employees operating in 84 countries. It would remain a top firm until closing in 2002.

In May 1973, four WKU alumni working for Arthur Andersen & Company made donations to establish a scholarship fund. The donations were matched by their employer, and the Arthur Andersen & Company Scholarship Fund was created. The fund serves to assist deserving junior and senior accounting students at WKU. Through this fund, accounting students are supported in their academic and professional endeavors.
