Arnold Gregory Taylor

Arnold Gregory Taylor was born July 23, 1921, to Lee A. Taylor and Charlotte Marie Gregory Taylor. A Henderson County native, Arnold received his undergraduate degree in agriculture from the University of Kentucky and was a member of Alpha Gamma Rho fraternity. He then came to WKU, where he earned a master’s degree in education and a Rank I Certificate.

Arnold had a prolific career as a Henderson County farmer, an engineer with Whirlpool Corp., a science teacher at Bowling Green High School, and the founder of Arnold Taylor Tax Service. A gardener through his 90th summer, he also enjoyed woodworking and genealogy. He especially loved working with young people and was a scout master for seven years, taking his scout troop to Philmont Scout Ranch in 1970, and continuing as a council leader for many years.

Arnold was married to Sara Downing Taylor. They had two children, Gregory and Susan, a 1980 WKU graduate. He and Sara were married for 59 years until his passing on March 12, 2013 at the age of 91.

To honor her father’s memory, Susan established the Arnold Taylor Scholarship Fund in 2013. The fund assists deserving WKU students in pursuing their academic goals. Through this fund, Arnold’s legacy lives on in perpetuity.
