Anna Fisher and Cecil C. Brown

Anna Fisher and Cecil C. Brown

Anna Fisher Brown was a proud graduate of WKU, where she majored in nursing. She came to the Hill with only a single penny and determination to get a great education. After graduation, she worked as a consultant in the Public Health Foreign Service Program in Central America, where she met her husband Sgt. Major Cecil C. Brown, U.S. Army. Her work took her to many places and earned her numerous degrees, honors, and awards. She was also fluent in several languages. She and Cecil traveled the world together until his passing and hers in 1989.

To pay forward the education she received at WKU, Anna and Cecil established the Anna Fisher Brown and Cecil C. Brown Scholarship Fund in 1971. The fund serves to assist deserving WKU students in pursuing their educational goals. Through this fund, Anna and Cecil’s legacies live on in perpetuity.
