Allen Motor Company, Inc.

Allen Motor Company, Inc.

Allen Motor Company, Inc. was a longtime fixture of the Bowling Green, Kentucky community. The family-run business was established by Felix E. Allen and resided downtown, where the hub of Bowling Green retail and automotive existed at the time. After Felix’s death in 1954, his wife Frances and their children, Felix E. Allen Jr., Robert G. Allen, and Betty Allen Snodgrass, took over the business. Eddie Allen, Robert’s nephew, would later step in after Robert became ill and Felix Jr. and Betty passed. Since that time until closing their doors, he managed the day-to-day of Allen Motor Company. In 2002, Eddie and the rest of the family decided to sell to Martin Management Groups automotive division.

Allen Motor Company was also a friend to WKU, particularly through Betty. Betty graduated from WKU in 1941 and worked on the Talisman during her time as a student. To give back to the university, Betty, Robert, and the rest of the family established the Allen Motor Company, Inc. Student Aid Fund in 1981. Through this fund, the Allen family’s generous legacy continues in perpetuity.
