Agriculture Scholarship Fund
The Department of Agriculture and Food Science at WKU is part of the Ogden College of Science and Engineering. The department has a university farm, which is located a few miles south of the main campus on HWY 31-W. The Farm is 810 acres and includes a Grade A Dairy, a classroom-mechanics laboratory facility, horticulture facilities, a beef handling facility, university beef and horse herds, and crop acreage. The farm serves as a laboratory to deliver “hands-on” educational experiences for students. The L.D. Brown Agricultural Exposition Center, also located on the farm, serves as classroom space, as well as a hub for community agricultural activities. The goal of the department is to prepare students for careers in Agriculture and Food Science industries via teaching, applied research, and outreach.
To further the reach of the Agriculture Department, faculty members department established the Agriculture Scholarship Fund in November 1971. They sought to encourage and assist deserving full-time WKU students majoring in agriculture. Thanks to continued donations from faculty, friends, and alumni of the Department of Agriculture, the fund continues to nurture students in perpetuity.
