Bernice King Douglas

Bernice King Douglas was born January 4, 1928, in Warren County, Kentucky. Bernice had a prolific career in Bowling Green as the owner and operator of J&J Sheet Metal Shop. She was also active in the community as a member of the Bowling Green Homeowners Association, WKU Hilltopper 100 Club, and trustee of the Order of the Eagles. She was married to John Douglas until his passing in 1978. They had one son, Johnny Wayne Douglas. Bernice passed away on November 2, 1982.

To honor her memory, Johnny established the Bernice King Douglas Fund in Home Economics, Business or Performing Arts. The fund assists deserving WKU students of Warren, Butler, or Edmonson County who are majoring in home economics, business, or theatre and dance. Through this fund, Bernice’s legacy lives on.
